In a time when many people want to feel connected to local food sources, it’s important for everyone to remember the importance of farms. For 26 years now, Cherry Hill Park’s annual Farm Day has helped to keep locals in touch with both the past and present realities faced by the area’s farms. This family-friendly event, scheduled for October 12, is facilitated by the Recreation and Parks department of Falls Church, and features a full slate of entertainment, activities, and attractions from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.. Activities and attractions include pony rides, a petting zoo, beekeeping and blacksmithing demonstrations, live music, and more. Take a tour of the 19th century farmhouse on site or try your hand at heritage farm chores like cider pressing and corn shelling.

Admission is free, but there are fees for activities and food, so be sure to have some cash on hand!
